Company Hierarchy

Company Hierarchy

(From GapingVoid.)

I just read The Gervais Principle, and it blew my mind. Basically, it covers how The Office is more than just a hilarious show on TV, it is a genius case study on company management. I can totally see how Ryan is a sociopath, Michael is clueless, and Stanley is a loser.

This actually brings me back to a conversation that I had with Jenny Luong when I ran into her at the UCD law school fair a couple of months back. We talked about how unhappy we were with our current jobs; she in particular was really upset about office politics and said that it was just something she would have to deal with no matter where she worked, so she might as well learn to play dirty with the best of them.

I now realize that we were both losers who were just self-aware enough to realize we were going to dead-end in cluelessness and wanted to shoot for sociopath status instead. Now, I just need to learn Powertalk and I’ll be set!
